The Baiazinha Lodge is the perfect base for jaguar tracking on the Paraguay river and Taiama Reserve. The Taiama Reserve is a federally protected area; it is not open to the public and no tour operator is permitted to take tourists onto the reserve.

Itinerary

Day 1 Departure from Cuiaba to the Baiazinha Lodge (Wednesday)
Departure from Cuiaba in the morning towards Caceres (205 km/2,5 hrs) on paved roads. Before entering the city we turn left and take a 77 km (2,5 hrs) towards the Paraguay river. Arrival at the Baiazinha Lodge. After lunch a fist reconaissance tour into surrounding area of the Paraguay river and its channels to see if we get a first glimps of the jaguar and to spot other wildlife.  Dinner and overnight. (L,D)

Spend day 2 and 3 at the Baiazinha Lodge (Thursday & Friday)
01 full day boat trip on the Paraguay river and 01 full day boat trip to the Taiama Ecological Reserve and its channels in search for jaguars and other wildlife. This is one of the best areas to see jaguars away from the crowds. They are a little shier here, but with a little luck you will get face-to-face with one these elusive cats. Besides the jaguars the regions is known for its high concentration of other wildlife! Overnight.(B,L,D)

Day 4 Return from the Baiazinha Lodge to Cuiaba (Saturday)
After breakfast transfer to the airport of Cuiaba, where you´ll arrive around 14:00 hrs.(B)

What to bring: Light weight pants, jeans, T-shirts, long sleeved shirts, shorts, bathing suit, extra socks and underwear, sandals, good walking and/or old tennis shoes, windbreaker/light rainjacket, sun hat, flash light, sun screen, insect repellent, binoculars, camera, film, extra batteries. Sweatshirt or sweater recommended from July to September.
